About Aathma Care

Aathma Care is a compassionate, person-centred , trauma informed practice offering counselling, social work and clinical supervision services.

The practice was created to offer a safe and respectful space where individuals can pause, reflect and explore the experiences that matter to them.

Grounded in trauma-informed, strengths-based and culturally responsive practice, Aathma Care supports both individuals navigating life's challenges and professionals seeking reflection and growth in their practice.

The Meaning Behind Aathma Care

Mind • Heart • Wholeness

“Aathma” means the soul or inner self — the part of us that makes each person unique.

At Aathma Care, I believe that people are more than the difficulties they may be facing. Sometimes life can feel overwhelming, confusing or painful. At other times, we may simply need space to pause, reflect and work out what comes next.

There is no single path to healing or growth. Each person's experiences, strengths and needs are different.

Through Aathma Care, I aim to provide a space where you can feel heard, understood and supported with respect, compassion and dignity.

Meet the founder of Aathma Care

I’m Kavitha, the founder of Aathma Care. I’m an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), with over 18 years of clinical and community experience across NSW public hospitals, healthcare services, local government and community organisations.

In therapy, I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. My work draws on practical, evidence-based therapies—including CBT, ACT, DBT and solution-focused therapy, grounded in trauma-informed care. More importantly, I tailor our work around your individual circumstances, values and what you hope to achieve.

Over the past 18 years, I’ve supported people navigating:

  • Complex mental health challenges, trauma, and family or domestic violence

  • Life transitions, disability, aged care, and complex psychosocial circumstances

  • Health system navigation, advocacy, and care coordination

Alongside counselling, my professional background includes clinical leadership, coaching, and supporting teams. I provide reflective clinical supervision and mentoring for social workers and other practitioners seeking support in their professional practice.

I provide services in English and Tamil and have a conversational understanding of Telugu.

Starting therapy can feel daunting. Aathma Care is a quiet, respectful space where you don’t have to carry things alone, and where we can explore what matters to you and work out your next steps together.

A Space to Begin

Taking the first step can sometimes feel difficult. Whether you're seeking support for yourself, navigating a challenging time, or looking for professional guidance, Aathma Care offers a thoughtful and compassionate space to begin.
